Hi, I’m Mykal

Hi, I’m Mykal. Pronounced “Michael” – yup! Like the boy’s name!

I have been happily in love with my best guy since 2010; we welcomed our first little one in June 2020- his name is Banx! In January, we will welcome our second – we are still working on a name. After a great career in the mortgage industry, I said goodbye to corporate America to pursue my real passion… letting everyone know what I’m thinking LOL just kidding.

During, my first pregnancy I really leaned into social media and the influencers. Let me tell you… I. AM. INFLUENCEABLE. & I love it! There are a lot of women that helped me through my pregnancy just by sharing their experiences. They got me excited about motherhood & in some instances, reassured me I wasn’t alone when I thought I was crazy (thanks hormones).

And now, I want to share! But what do I have to say that would interest any of you? Well, here’s a little bit of my truth that could be relatable:

1. I’ve been with the same guy for 11 years (with a little bit of drama in between) unmarried. Lots of ups and downs. Lots of questions you ask yourself when that big question never comes… but if you’ve been with your lover for 5 years and you’re wondering when he’s going to pop the question, here’s your sign to wait 6 more years and have a baby. Your time is coming, Boo. Engaged August 22, 2021.

2. I have what I would call functioning anxiety that more times than not feels debilitating. Some days it’s fueled by completely irrational fears, and some days it’s a side effect of wanting to get my whole life together in 3 days but not being able to do it until I organize my spice cabinet. Either way, you’ll find me chugging coffee to make sure it’s a wild ride.

3. I’ve also been diagnosed with PCOS so I am a smorgasbord of hormones. I have struggled with weight fluctuation, adult acne, over stimulating adrenaline rushes, and so much more. I know how cruel looking in a mirror can be. I wouldn’t say I have overcome the mental side effects hormonal imbalances can cause BUT I can share how I’ve coped & what I’ve tried.

4. I am a size 12-16 depending on the pant… thicc girls; you know what I mean. I would say I have become a professional online shopper for my body type and that deserves an award. Am I “plus size”? Maybe? But I don’t look like those models… so if you don’t jump to put jeans on, baby, you still might feel my pain. You won’t find fashion advice here but all of my finds are hard fought for and I love sharing where I got something I love.

5. I come from a HUGE family. I have 10 brothers & sisters and it’s the biggest blessing!
